What is Medicare prescription drug coverage?

Medicare prescription drug coverage is a voluntary benefit under the Medicare program. The Medicare prescription drug coverage program is sometimes called "Part D." Part D benefits are provided by private insurance companies.

There are many Part D plans to choose from in Maine.

You can enroll in a new Part D plan from November 15 through December 31 each year. (Special enrollment periods also exist. For more information about these, contact your local Area Agency on Aging. 1- 887-353-3771.)
